Golden Card

Welcome

I made this card for a friend who has become a superannuitant, and here in New Zealand you are given a gold card for special 'seniors discounts', hence my theme of a golden card, and lots of gold in the card.

I loosely followed the sketch over at STAMPlorations November Challenge,

starting with the tag shape, which I cut from a piece of Prima journaling card.

The (Simons Says Single Rose Die) roses were cut from a piece of dark pink paper that I had smooshed with Orchid and Lavender pearlscent inks to tone in with the tag.

The sentiment was cut with a S/B die, the top layer was sponged with gold delicata ink, and layered over pink card stock, attached on an angle across the base of the card.

I used some eyelashes yarn to thread through the top of the tag - carefully cut to have just three colours showing.

The final detail after everything was mounted onto the gold background paper (from a Botanicals pad by Trim Craft) and then onto the pink base, was the two groups of three pink pearls.

We had news recently that my beloved husband has an un-treatable cancer, so if I am not around much in blogland in the coming months, please understand that I am otherwise occupied - I will be here when I can, and comment when I can, but my first priority is him.

Lovely card! Learnt a new term here...eyelash yarn. It was sent to me as RAK but didn't know it had a name.
Sorry to know about your DH. I can understand how stressful it must be for you and the family. Give him as much of your time as possible and you take care. Give him a print out of the Scripture verses linked on my recent post. May the Lord give him the strength to overcome the tough days ahead.

Oh my dear Maxine... my heart breaks to hear this news!!! I am adding your DH to my ever lengthening prayer list and will keep him in my prayers, as well as you! I know this is so hard on the caregivers as well so I will keep you covered in prayer as you pray for him! I don't have your email address but if you ever want to "talk" use the email me button on my side bar to email me and put in the subject something like Maxine to Grace or something to flag me it's you as I get a lot of mail and can miss things! Cancer is not an easy diagnosis and certainly it not being treatable is even worse! Praying your faith will carry you and that there will be blessings along the way as there have been for me as well. I would never wish cancer on anyone, but even in it, God has been faithful to me and has shown His glory in so many ways! Hugs sweet friend!!!

Maxine, thank you for sharing the sad news, and know that many prayers will be offered up on your family's behalf, and that God will keep you both strong in faith. Your beautiful tag has so many wonderful details. Love the circle roses, and the design of the backing paper made me think it was golden tulle until I read the post. It's a clever design for the 'golden age' aspect, and I'm loving the fluffy pink feathers too. Great job on the entire tag, and your friend will be thrilled to have such a thoughtful gift from you. Big hugs, God Bless.

Hi dear sister in the Lord, been praying fir you and DH feel for you all muchly, only the Lord really knows what your going through, He knows, He cares, He gets it... He is alone our Strength when we're really not coping. I will keep praying.
Re the dies, I buy them on eBay as that's where Shaz bought them, if you just put dies in search bar and select lowest prices they come up.
As a guide don't rush in willy nilly.
Some have same dies but twice as dear as others.
I chose sellers that had 99% or more feedback score. I've had about half a dozen die -feather, happy birthday in circle Die, snowflake, watch face, dragon fly amd flower die, flower set of four. Have still four more on order and a stamp set. All dies cut cleanly and release well.
Hope that helps.
Wonderful card I really reallly love it, just gorgeous Sheen and shine.
Thanks for sharing,
Hugs and prayers dear Maxine,

Hi Maxine, am glad you have mentioned your husband on your blog now, that means there will be more prayers for you and for him going around the world. Hope you had a wonderful time with the family visiting and they helped give you some comfort.
Keep crafting whilst you can and when you can, it is an outlet and will help you more than you realise. God gave you this gift which you have simply enjoyed up to now but you will find that there is so much more than enjoyment in crafting. Sometimes God works in mysterious ways.
May you both find comfort in prayer.
Blessings
Neet xx
